About IPR Cell:

Consequent upon the approval of the Competent Authority and as per the directions of Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Minister of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India and prescribed in the National Intellectual Property Rights Policy (NIPR) 2016 to create and exploit synergies between all forms of intellectual property (IP) collaborating with the Patent Information Centre-Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PIC-PSCST). The IPR Cell for Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda is established to implement its activities for University main campus and all its affiliated/constituent colleges. Prof.(Dr.) Ashish Baldi, Professor & Head, Department of Pharmacy is acting as Chairman of the IPR cell of the University. The

Objectives

IPR AWARENESS: OUTREACH AND PROMOTION

To create awareness about the economic, technological benefits of IPRs among all sections of society.

Adoption of national slogan ‘Create India; Innovative India’ systematic to promote India’s IP strengths by conveying to all stakeholders the values and benefits of IP.

Through roadshows and campaigns: schools, colleges, skill development centres and industry clusters among others to be covered.

Incorporation in Pre-Ph.D courses syllabi material at University.

GENERATION OF IPRs

Stimulate the generation of IPRs.

IPR output from the University campus, constituent & affiliated colleges to be approved; R&D to be encouraged.

Include IP creation as a key performance metric for R&D and technology institutes

Create an industry-academia interface encouraging cross-fertilization of ideas and IPR-driven research and innovation.

Domestic filing of patents to be encouraged.

COMMERCIALIZATION OF IPRs

Get value for IPRs through commercialization.

Provide a common platform for IP owners, users of IPRs, potential buyers and funding agencies.

Establish links among different organizations for exchange of information and facilitate access to databases on Indian IP and global databases.

HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT

Strengthen and expand human resources institutions and capacities for teching, training, research and skill building in IPRs.

Encourage and support capacity building among women creators, innovators, entrepreneurs, practitioners, teachers and trainers.

Encourage formulation of MRSPTU IP Policy/Stratefy in Government Departments, higher educaton, research and technical.
